After
years of traditional teaching and training Jill qualified six years ago as
a certificate holder for the Monty Roberts method of training and concentrated
during this time purely on handling problem horses, backing and schooling
youngsters.
The work
ranged from rearers, buckers, horses that couldn’t be caught, horses
that knapped, those that wouldn’t be loaded, to those who walked all
over you and others that would viciously attack.
Noticing
that may problems were caused by bad fitting saddles Jill went on to extend
her knowledge by training for two years with holistic saddler Kay Humphries.
Their work concentrated on horses that had bad atrophy and needed to rebuild
their muscles and other that were difficult to get a good fit to.
This lead
to Jill being an agent for the top classical rider and trainer Heather Moffett,
selling her new concept saddle the Fhoenix FA a flexible saddle that eliminates
many of the problems caused/found in traditional saddles. They have the advantage
of fitting most horses and indeed can be swapped from horse to horse.
The saddle
work has always run concurrently with training and teaching.
More training
followed at the Turville Valley Stud one of this countries top classical training
centres. Jill has brought the in hand/long lining /ground work into her repertoire,
and has found horses respond quicker, reaching a high level of schooling.
This lateral
work being taught from the ground to even unbacked horses includes all lateral
movements from shoulder in to piaffe, without the weight of a rider the horse
can learn the movements becoming balanced, coordinated and working towards
lightness.
This work
is then easily transferred to the ridden aids advancing schooling by years.
Jill is
now a TT for Heather Moffett and Enlightened Equitation, and is also a student
of Equine Touch hoping to qualify in October 2005. Jill says there is so much
that you can learn about horses and so many teachers prepared to show you.
Jill will
teach riding and teach you how to school your horse/handle a difficult horse
as well as taking horses in for schooling, Jill will still take in problem
horses.
Jill will
also come to you to give one off lessons to identify ridden and training difficulties
and present solutions, or regular lessons. |
